अगृह्णां यच्च ते पाणिमग्निं पर्यणयं च यत्।
अनुजानामि तत्सर्वमसिँल्लोके परत्र च॥
agṛhṇāṁ yac ca te pāṇim agniṁ paryaṇayaṁ ca yat
anujānāmi tat sarvam asminl loke paratra ca
agṛhṇām = I had accepted; yat ca = that; te = your; pāṇim = hand; agnim = fire; paryaṇayam = that I led you around; ca = and; yat = the; anujānāmi = I fully reject; tat sarvam = everything; asmin = in this; loke = life; paratra = the next; ca = and.
I fully reject your hand that I had accepted, the fire that I led you around and everything in this life and the next.
1 Daśaratha rejects any sportive association with Kaikeyī that can benefit him in this life. He also rejects any auspicious association with her, such as the performance of the Agnihotra sacrifice with her that can benefit him in his next life. In Vedic civilization, everyone is conscious of performing activities that provide benefit in this life and in the next life. The latter is more important than the former.
“I reject everything in this life and the next” means “I reject [all benefits] from you in this life and the next.”1
