Chapter 47: The Brāhmaṇas Return to Ayodhyā in Distress

यो नः सदा पालयति पिता पुत्रानिवौरसान्।
कथं रघूणां स श्रेष्ठस्त्यक्त्वा नो विपिनं गतः॥
yo naḥ sadā pālayati pitā putrān ivaurasān
kathaṁ raghūṇāṁ sa śreṣṭhas tyaktvā no vipinaṁ gataḥ
yaḥ = who; naḥ = us; sadā = always; pālayati = maintained; pitā = a father; putrān = sons; iva = like; aurasān = [maintains] his own; katham = how; raghūṇām = of the Raghus; saḥ = the; śreṣṭhaḥ = best; tyaktvā = did abandon; naḥ = us; vipinam = to the forest; gataḥ = and go.
How did the best of the Raghus, who always maintained us like a father [maintains] his own sons, abandon us and go to the forest?
