Chapter 58: Sumantra Conveys the Message of Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa
Text 2.58.13
इति सूतो नरेन्द्रेण चोदितः सज्जमानया।
उवाच वाचा राजानं स बाष्पपरिरब्धया॥
iti sūto narendreṇa coditaḥ sajjamānayā
uvāca vācā rājānaṁ sa bāṣpa-parirabdhayā
iti = thus; sūtaḥ = sūta; nara-indreṇa = by the king; coditaḥ = ordered; sajjamānayā = that faltered; uvāca = spoke; vācā = in a voice; rājānam = to the king; saḥ = the; bāṣpa-parirabdhayā = because of his choked tears.
Ordered thus by the king, the sūta spoke to the king in a voice that faltered because of his choked tears.
