Chapter 59: Sumantra Describes the Agony of all Creatures in the Country
Text 2.59.21
सुतस्य वचनं श्रुत्वा वाचा परमदीनया।
बाष्पोपहतया राजा तं सुतमिदमब्रवीत्॥
sūtasya vacanaṁ śrutvā vācā parama-dīnayā
bāṣpopahatayā rājā taṁ sūtam idam abravīt
sūtasya = of the sūta; vacanam = the words; śrutvā = hearing; vācā = words; parama-dīnayā = extremely morose; bāṣpa-upahatayā = that were interrupted by his tears; rājā = the king; tam sūtam = to the charioteer; idam = the following; abravīt = spoke.
Hearing the words of the sūta, the king spoke to the charioteer the following extremely morose words that were interrupted by his tears.
