Chapter 90: Bharata Meets Bharadvāja Ṛṣi
Text 2.90.6-7

ताभ्यामर्घ्यं च पाद्यं च दत्त्वा पश्चात्फलानि च।
आनुपूर्व्याच्च धर्मज्ञः पप्रच्छ कुशलं कुले॥

अयोध्यायां बले कोशे मित्रेष्वपि च मन्त्रिषु।
जानन्दशरथं वृत्तं न राजानमुदाहरत्॥

tābhyām arghyaṁ ca pādyaṁ ca dattvā paścāt phalāni ca
ānupūrvyāc ca dharmajñaḥ papraccha kuśalaṁ kule

ayodhyāyāṁ bale kośe mitreṣv api ca mantriṣu
jānan daśarathaṁ vṛttaṁ na rājānam udāharat

tābhyām = them; arghyam = arghya water; ca = and; pādyam = water to wash their feet ; dattvā = offered; paścāt = then; phalāni ca = and fruits; ānupūrvyāt ca = according to seniority; dharmajñaḥ = Bharadvāja who knew dharma; papraccha = and then inquired; kuśalam = about the welfare of; kule = the royal dynasty; ayodhyāyām = Ayodhyā; bale = the army; kośe = treasury; mitreṣu = friends; api ca = and; mantriṣu = ministers; jānan = since he knew; daśaratham vṛttam = that Daśaratha had died; na = did not; rājānam = anything about the king; udāharat = he mention.

Bharadvāja who knew dharma offered them arghya water, water to wash their feet, and fruits according to seniority and then inquired about the welfare of the royal dynasty, Ayodhyā, the army, treasury, friends and ministers. Since he knew that Daśaratha had died, he did not mention anything about the king.

Bharadvāja knew the dharma of worshipping in the right sequence.
