Chapter 104: Bharata Beseeches Rāma to Rule the Kingdom

किमेतदिच्छेयमहं श्रोतुं प्रव्याहृतं त्वया।
यस्मात्त्वमागतो देशमिमं चीरजटाजिनी॥
kim etad iccheyam ahaṁ śrotuṁ pravyāhṛtaṁ tvayā
yasmāt tvam āgato deśam imaṁ cīra-jaṭājinī
kim etat = why; iccheyam aham = I want; śrotum = to listen; pravyāhṛtam tvayā = to Your explanation; yasmāt tvam āgataḥ = have You come; deśam = place; imam = to this; cīra-jaṭā-ajinī = with matted hair, a cloth of bark and deer skin.
Why have You come to this place with matted hair, a cloth of bark and deer skin? I want to listen to Your explanation.
It is implied here that Rāma did not want to speculate [on Bharata’s reason].
Despite this question, when Bharata remained silent in distress, Rāma asked Him again [as follows].
