Chapter 105: Rāma Consoles Bharata With Spiritual Instructions
Text 2.105.25

हृष्यन्त्यृतुमुखं दृष्ट्वा नवंनवमिहागतम्।
ऋतूनां परिवर्तेन प्राणिनां प्राणसंक्षयः॥

hṛṣyanty ṛtu-mukhaṁ dṛṣṭvā navaṁ navam ihāgatam
ṛtūnāṁ parivartena prāṇināṁ prāṇa-saṅkṣayaḥ

hṛṣyanti = they are delighted; ṛtu-mukham = the onset of a season; dṛṣṭvā = when they see; navam navam = thinking that something newer and newer; iha āgatam = has come about; ṛtūnām = seasons [actually]; parivartena = [however] the change of; prāṇinām = of the creatures; prāṇa-saṅkṣayaḥ = brings about the destructions of the lifespans.

They are delighted when they see the onset of a season, thinking that something newer and newer has come about. [However], the change of seasons [actually] brings about the destruction of the lifespans of the creatures.

The first line of this verse indicates that they are delighted upon seeing various seasons arrive with the thought that they would provide them various forms of enjoyment. The second line of this verse points out that the change of seasons only bring about calamities.
