Chapter 110: Vasiṣṭha Requests Rāma to Accept the Throne

निवर्तयितुकामस्तु त्वामेतद्वाक्यमुक्तवान्।
इमां लोकसमुत्पत्तिं लोकनाथ निबोध मे॥
nivartayitu-kāmas tu tvām etad vākyam uktavān
imāṁ loka-samutpattiṁ loka-nātha nibodha me
nivartayitu-kāmaḥ tu = desiring return; tvām = Your; etat = these; vākyam = words; uktavān = he spoke; imām loka-samutpattim = about the creation of this world; loka-nātha = O Lord of the world; nibodha = please hear; me = from me.
“Desiring Your return, he spoke these words. O Lord of the world, please hear from me about the creation of this world.
What Jābāli stated in the last verse of the previous chapter was true. Vasiṣṭha points this out in the first line of this verse.
He then begins to assert that only the eldest son is fit to rule the kingdom. Loka-nātha (“O Lord of the world”) indicates that all of this was obviously known to Rāma.
