Chapter 118: Conversation Between Sītā and Anasūyā
Text 2.118.14

नियमैर्विविधैराप्तं तपो हि महदस्ति मे।
तत्संश्रित्य बलं सीते छन्दये त्वां शुचिस्मिते॥

niyamair vividhair āptaṁ tapo hi mahad asti me
tat saṁśritya balaṁ sīte chandaye tvāṁ śuci-smite

niyamaiḥ vividhaiḥ = because of various vows; āptam = I have obtained; tapaḥ hi = of asceticism; mahat = great; asti me = from me; tat saṁśritya = on the strength [of that asceticism]; balam = powers; sīte = Sītā; chandaye = I request to take a boon; tvām = you; śuci-smite = O brightly smiling.

O brightly smiling Sītā, I have obtained great powers of asceticism because of various vows. I request you to take a boon from me on the strength [of that asceticism].
