इत्येवमुक्त्वा वचनं महात्मा सीतां प्रियां मैथिलराजपुत्रीम्।
रामो धनुष्मान्सह लक्ष्मणेन जगाम रम्याणि तपोवनानि॥
ity evam uktvā vacanaṁ mahatma
sītāṁ priyāṁ maithila-rāja-putrīm
rāmo dhanuṣmān saha lakṣmaṇena
jagāma ramyāṇi tapo-vanāni
iti1 evam = these; uktvā = having spoken; vacanam = words; mahā-ātmā = of great fortitude; sītām = Sītā; priyām = to His beloved; maithila-rāja-putrīm = the princess of Mithilā; rāmaḥ = Rāma; dhanuṣmān = the archer; saha = with; lakṣmaṇena = Lakṣmaṇa; jagāma = went; ramyāṇi = to the pleasant; tapaḥ-vanāni = forests for austerity.
Having spoken these words to His beloved Sītā, the princess of Mithilā, the archer Rāma, the possessor of great fortitude, went with Lakṣmaṇa to the pleasant forests for austerity.
