Chapter 15: Lakṣmaṇa Constructs an Āśrama for Rāma in Pañcavaṭī
Text 3.15.10
अयं देशः समः श्रीमान्पुष्पितैस्तरुभिर्वृतः।
इहाश्रमपदं सौम्य यथावत्कर्तुमर्हसि॥
ayaṁ deśaḥ samaḥ śrīmān puṣpitais tarubhir vṛtaḥ
ihāśrama-padaṁ saumya yathāvat kartum arhasi
ayam = this; deśaḥ = place; samaḥ = is flat; śrīmān = prosperous; puṣpitaiḥ = with flowers; tarubhiḥ = by trees; vṛtaḥ = [and] surrounded; iha = here; āśrama-padam = an āśrama; saumya = gentle one; yathāvat = as appropriate; kartum arhasi = You should construct.
This place is flat, prosperous [and] surrounded by trees with flowers. Gentle one, You should construct an āśrama as appropriate here.1.
