Chapter 16: Lakṣmaṇa’s Description of Winter
Text 3.16.27
अस्मिंस्तु पुरुषव्याघ्रः काले दुःखसमन्वितः।
तपश्चरति धर्मात्मा त्वद्भक्त्या भरतः पुरे॥
asmiṁs tu puruṣa-vyāghraḥ kāle duḥkha-samanvitaḥ
tapaś carati dharmātmā tvad-bhaktyā bharataḥ pure
asmin tu = at this; puruṣa-vyāghraḥ = O Prince; kāle = time; duḥkha-samanvitaḥ = distressed in separation from You; tapaḥ = austerity; carati = executes; dharma-ātmā = the dhārmika soul; tvat-bhaktyā = out of devotion for You; bharataḥ = Bharata; pure = in the city.
O Prince, at this time in the city, the dhārmika soul Bharata, distressed in separation from You, executes austerity out of devotion for You.
