इत्येवमुक्तः काकुत्स्थः प्रहस्य मदिरेक्षणाम्।
इदं वचनमारेभे वक्तुं वाक्यविशारदः॥
ity evam uktaḥ kākutsthaḥ prahasya madirekṣaṇām
idaṁ vacanam ārebhe vaktuṁ vākya-viśāradaḥ
iti evam = thus; uktaḥ = upon being addressed; kākutsthaḥ = Kākutstha; prahasya = laughed; madira-īkṣaṇām = at the lady whose eyes were exciting; idam = the following; vacanam = words; ārebhe = and began; vaktum = to speak; vākya-viśāradaḥ = who spoke with expertise.
Upon being addressed thus, Kākutstha, who spoke with expertise, laughed at the lady whose eyes were exciting and began to speak the following words.1
