Chapter 43: Sītā Sees the Magical Deer
Text 3.43.20
निहतस्यास्य सत्त्वस्य जाम्बूनदमयत्वचि।
शष्पबृस्यां विनीतायामिच्छाम्यहमुपासितुम्॥
nihatasyāsya sattvasya jāmbūnadamaya-tvaci
śaṣpa-bṛsyāṁ vinītāyām icchāmy aham upāsitum
nihatasya = [if] it is killed; asya = of this; sattvasya = creature; jāmbūnadamaya-tvaci = the gold-complexioned skin; śaṣpa-bṛsyām = on an ascetic’s seat made of fresh grass 4; vinītāyām = to spreading; icchāmi = wish; aham = I; upāsitum = and sit with You [on it].
[If] it is killed, I wish to spread the gold-complexioned skin of this creature on an ascetic’s seat made of fresh grass and sit with You [on it].
