tataḥ suveṣaṁ mṛgayā-gataṁ patiṁ
pratīkṣamāṇā saha-lakṣmaṇaṁ tadā
vivīkṣamāṇā haritaṁ dadarśa tan
mahad vanaṁ naiva tu rāma-lakṣmaṇau
tataḥ = then; suveṣam = of handsome appearance; mṛgayā-gatam = who had gone to hunt [the deer]; patim = for her husband; pratīkṣamāṇā = while waiting; saha-lakṣmaṇam = with Lakṣmaṇa; tadā vivīkṣamāṇā = she looked at the greenery; haritam dadarśa = saw; tat = the; mahat = great; vanam = forest; na = not; eva tu = and only; rāma-lakṣmaṇau = Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa.
Then, while waiting for her husband, who was handsome in appearance and who had gone to hunt [the deer] with Lakṣmaṇa, she looked at the greenery and only saw the great forest, not Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa.
