Chapter 47: Rāvaṇa Reveals his Identity to Sītā
Text 3.47.44

यदन्तरं सिंहसृगालयोर्वने यदन्तरं स्यन्दिनिकासमुद्रयोः।
सुराग्र्यसौवीरकयोर्यदन्तरं तदन्तरं वै तव राघवस्य च॥

yad antaraṁ siṁha-sṛgālayor vane
yad antaraṁ syandinikā-samudrayoḥ
surāgrya-sauvīrakayor yad antaraṁ
tad antaraṁ vai tava rāghavasya ca

yat antaram = there is a difference; siṁha-sṛgālayor = between a lion and a jackal 4; vane = of water 5; yat antaram = there is a difference; syandinikā-samudrayoḥ = between a narrow stream and the ocean; sura-agrya-sauvīrakayoḥ = between excellent wine and sour gruel 6; yat antaram = there is a difference; tat = that; antaram vai = is the difference; tava = between you; rāghavasya ca = and Rāghava.

There is a difference between a lion and a jackal. There is a difference between a narrow stream and an ocean of water.1 There is a difference between excellent wine and sour gruel. That is the difference between you and Rāghava.

The difference she speaks of is a difference in gradation 7.
