Chapter 50: Jaṭāyu Challenges Rāvaṇa
Text 3.50.2

ततः पर्वतकूटाभस्तीक्ष्णतुण्डः खगोत्तमः।
वनस्पतिगतः श्रीमान्व्याजहार शुभां गिरम्॥

tataḥ parvata-kūṭābhas tīkṣṇa-tuṇḍaḥ khagottamaḥ
vanaspati-gataḥ śrīmān vyājahāra śubhāṁ giram

tataḥ parvata-kūṭa-ābhaḥ = and he resembled a peak of a mountain; tīkṣṇa-tuṇḍaḥ = had a sharp beak 1; khaga-uttamaḥ = the excellent bird; vanaspati-gataḥ = sitting on a tree; śrīmān = the prosperous Jaṭāyu; vyājahāra = spoke; śubhām = [the following] auspicious; giram = words.

The excellent bird had a sharp beak and he resembled a peak of a mountain. Sitting on a tree, the prosperous Jaṭāyu spoke [the following] auspicious words.

Jaṭāyu was prosperous, that is, enriched with devotional service. He spoke words that brought auspiciousness to Rāvaṇa.
