Chapter 50: Jaṭāyu Challenges Rāvaṇa
Text 3.50.12

विषये वा पुरे वा ते यदा रामो महाबलः।
नापराध्यति धर्मात्मा कथं तस्यापराध्यसि॥

viṣaye vā pure vā te yadā rāmo mahā-balaḥ
nāparādhyati dharmātmā kathaṁ tasyāparādhyasi

viṣaye = in your territory; pure = city; = or; te = you; yadā = when; rāmaḥ = Rāma; mahā-balaḥ = of great strength; na = not; aparādhyati = has harmed; dharma-ātmā = and a dhārmika mind; katham = how; tasya = Him; aparādhyasi = can you hurt.

When Rāma, the possessor of great strength and a dhārmika mind, has not harmed you in your territory or city, how can you hurt Him?

Anticipating that Rāvaṇa might say, “It is my nature to abduct my enemy’s wife,” Jaṭāyu points out here that being an enemy has nothing to do with this.1

Jaṭāyu then anticipates that Rāvaṇa might consider [Lord Rāma’s] killing of Khara to be an act of offense against him and speaks the next two verses.

1 In other words, whether an activity is dhārmika or adhārmika has nothing to do with the attitude of that person towards another. Rāmāyaṇa-bhūṣaṇa: śātrava-prasaktir atra nāstīty āha viṣaye vā.
