Chapter 50: Jaṭāyu Challenges Rāvaṇa
Text 3.50.15
क्षिप्रं विसृज वैदेहीं मा त्वा घोरेण चक्षुषा।
दहेद्दहनभूतेन वृत्रमिन्द्राशनिर्यथा॥
kṣipraṁ visṛja vaidehīṁ mā tvā ghoreṇa cakṣuṣā
dahed dahana-bhūtena vṛtram indrāśanir yathā
kṣipram = quickly; visṛja = release; vaidehīm = Vaidehī; mā = not; tvā = you; ghoreṇa = with His terrible; cakṣuṣā = glance; dahet = may Lord Rāma burn up; dahana-bhūtena = which can burn down all creatures; vṛtram = [which burnt down] Vṛtrāsura; indra-aśaniḥ = Indra’s thunderbolt; yathā = like.
Quickly release Vaidehī. May Lord Rāma not burn you up with His terrible glance which can burn down all creatures like Indra’s thunderbolt [which burnt down] Vṛtrāsura.
Cakṣuṣā (“glance”) indicates that [Rāvaṇa] can be killed just by [Rāma’s] glance upon him.
