Chapter 55: Rāvaṇa Flatters Sītā
Text 3.55.9

दिव्यदुन्दुभिनिर्ह्रादं तप्तकाञ्चनतोरणम्।
सोपानं काञ्चनं चित्रमारुरोह तया सह॥

divya-dundubhi-nirhrādaṁ tapta-kāñcana-toraṇam
sopānaṁ kāñcanaṁ citram āruroha tayā saha

divya-dundubhi-nirhrādam = it [resounded] with the sounds of divine kettle drums; tapta-kāñcana-toraṇam = and the gates [to the staircase] were made of molten gold; sopānam = staircase; kāñcanam = golden; citram = a wonderful 2; āruroha = he climbed; tayā saha = with her.

He climbed a wonderful golden staircase with her. It [resounded] with the sounds of divine kettle drums and the gates [to the staircase] were made of molten gold.

“It [resounded] with sounds of divine kettle drums” implies that it produced such sounds while [they] climbed on it. “He climbed [a wonderful golden staircase] with her” indicates that he grabbed her and climbed [the staircase].
