Chapter 56: Sītā is Taken to Aśoka-vana
Text 3.57.8
असुरैर्वा सुरैर्वा त्वं यद्यवध्योऽसि रावण।
उत्पाद्य सुमहद्वैरं जीवंस्तस्य न मोक्ष्यसे॥
asurair vā surair vā tvaṁ yady avadhyo ’si rāvaṇa
utpādya sumahad vairaṁ jīvaṁs tasya na mokṣyase
asuraiḥ vā = the asuras; suraiḥ = by the devas; vā = or; tvam = you; yadi = even if; avadhyaḥ asi = cannot be killed; rāvaṇa = Rāvaṇa,; utpādya = by creating; sumahat = a very great; vairam = enmity [with Lord Rāma]; jīvan = with your life intact; tasya = from Him.; na mokṣyase = you cannot escape.
Rāvaṇa, even if you cannot be killed by the devas or the asuras, by creating a very great enmity [with Lord Rāma] you cannot escape from Him with your life intact.
If Rāvaṇa were to make Lord Rāma extremely angry, he would not escape from His arrows with his life intact.
