Chapter 60: Rāma Searches for Sītā
Text 3.60.9
गता विचेतुं पुष्पाणि फलान्यपि च वा पुनः।
अथवा पद्मिनीं याता जलार्थं वा नदीं गता॥
gatā vicetuṁ puṣpāṇi phalāny api ca vā punaḥ
atha vā padminīṁ yātā jalārthaṁ vā nadīṁ gatā
gatā = she has gone; vicetum = to pluck; puṣpāṇi = flowers; phalāni = fruits; api ca = and; vā punaḥ = perhaps; atha vā = may be; padminīm = to the lotus pond to bathe; yātā = she went; jala-artham = to [fetch] water; vā = or; nadīm gatā = to the river.
Perhaps she has gone to pluck flowers and fruits. May be she went to the lotus pond to bathe or to the river to [fetch] water.
