Chapter 65: Lakṣmaṇa Consoles Rāmacandra
Text 3.65.10
सदा त्वं सर्वभूतानां शरण्यः परमा गतिः।
को नु दारप्रणाशं ते साधु मन्येत राघव॥
sadā tvaṁ sarva-bhūtānāṁ śaraṇyaḥ paramā gatiḥ
ko nu dāra-praṇāśaṁ te sādhu manyeta rāghava
sadā = always; tvam = You; sarva-bhūtānām = of all creatures; śaraṇyaḥ = are fit to be the shelter; paramā = and their supreme; gatiḥ = destination; kaḥ = who; nu = indeed; dāra-praṇāśam = the destruction of wife; te = Your; sādhu = to be a good act; manyeta = will consider; rāghava = Rāghava.
You are always fit to be the shelter of all creatures and their supreme destination. Rāghava, who indeed will consider the destruction of Your wife to be a good act?
The second line of this verse indicates that this offense had not been committed by the devas and other celestials.
