Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 67: Rāma Meets Jaṭāyu
Text 3.67.20
परिश्रान्तस्य मे पक्षौ छित्त्वा खड्गेन रावणः।
सीतामादाय वैदेहीमुत्पपात विहायसम्॥
pariśrāntasya me pakṣau chittvā khaḍgena rāvaṇaḥ
sītām ādāya vaidehīm utpapāta vihāyasam
pariśrāntasya = [when] I was tired; me = my; pakṣau = wings; chittvā = cut off; khaḍgena = with a sword; rāvaṇaḥ = Rāvaṇa; sītām = Sītā; ādāya = he then took; vaidehīm = the princess of Videha; utpapāta = and flew up; vihāyasam = in the skies.
[When] I was tired, Rāvaṇa cut off my wings with a sword. He then took Sītā, the princess of Videha, and flew up in the skies.
“The princess of Videha” indicates that she had been well taken care of by her [royal] father.
