Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 68: Jaṭāyu’s Liberation
Text 3.68.17

ब्रूहि ब्रूहीति रामस्य ब्रुवाणस्य कृताञ्जलेः।
त्यक्त्वा शरीरं गृध्रस्य जग्मुः प्राणा विहायसम्॥

brūhi brūhīti rāmasya bruvāṇasya kṛtāñjaleḥ
tyaktvā śarīraṁ gṛdhrasya jagmuḥ prāṇā vihāyasam

brūhi = tell [Me]; brūhi iti = tell [Me]; rāmasya = while Rāma; bruvāṇasya = said; kṛta-añjaleḥ = who had joined his palms in supplication; tyaktvā śarīram = departed from his body; gṛdhrasya = of the vulture; jagmuḥ = and went; prāṇāḥ = the life-airs; vihāyasam = to the skies.

While Rāma said, “Tell [Me], tell [Me]!” the life-airs of the vulture who had joined his palms in supplication departed from his body and went to the skies.

“The life-airs” [here actually] refers to his soul, his subtle senses and life-airs.
