Chapter 68: Jaṭāyu’s Liberation
Text 3.68.28
नाथं पतगलोकस्य चितामारोप्य राघव।
इमं धक्ष्यामि सौमित्रे हतं रौद्रेण रक्षसा॥
nāthaṁ pataga-lokasya citām āropya rāghava
imaṁ dhakṣyāmi saumitre hataṁ raudreṇa rakṣasā
nātham = lord; pataga-lokasya = of the birds; citām = on a pyre of wood; āropya = to place and; rāghava = O descendant of Raghu; imam = this; dhakṣyāmi = I wish to cremate; saumitre = O son of Sumitrā-devī; hatam = him who has been slain; raudreṇa = by a terrible; rakṣasā = rākṣasa.
O descendant of Raghu, O son of Sumitrā-devī, I wish to place this lord of the birds on a pyre of wood and cremate him who has been slain by a terrible rākṣasa.
