Text 1.1.69

स च सर्वान्समानीय वानरान्वानरर्षभः।
दिशः प्रस्थापयामास दिदृक्षुर्जनकात्मजाम्॥

sa ca sarvān samānīya vānarān vānara-rṣabhaḥ
diśaḥ prasthāpayām āsa didṛkṣur janakātmajām

saḥ = the; ca = and; sarvān = all; samānīya = called and; vānarān = of his monkeys; vānara-rṣabhaḥ = king of the monkeys Sugrīva; diśaḥ = in all the four directions; prasthāpayām āsa = sent them; didṛkṣuḥ = desirous; janaka ātmajām = Janaka’s daughter.

And the king of the monkeys Sugrīva then called all of his monkeys and sent them in all the four directions, desirous of finding Janaka’s daughter.

Sugrīva was the king of the monkeys because he had been officially coronated as such. He summoned monkeys from various lands and sent them with the instruction, “Quickly find Sītā and inform [me].”
