Chapter 11: Daśaratha Brings Ṛśyaśṛṅga to Ayodhyā
Text 1.11.8
तं च राजा दशरथो यष्टुकामः कृताञ्जलिः।
ऋश्यशृङ्गं द्विजश्रेष्ठं वरयिष्यति धर्मवित्॥
taṁ ca rājā daśaratho yaṣṭu-kāmaḥ kṛtāñjaliḥ
ṛśyaśṛṅgaṁ dvija-śreṣṭhaṁ varayiṣyati dharmavit
tam ca = the; rājā = king; daśarathaḥ = Daśaratha; yaṣṭu-kāmaḥ = with a desire to carry out such a sacrifice; kṛta-añjaliḥ = with his palms joined in supplication; ṛśyaśṛṅgam = Ṛśyaśṛṅga; dvija-śreṣṭham = best of the twiceborn; varayiṣyati = will accept as his priest; dharmavit = the knower of dharma.
With a desire to carry out such a sacrifice, with palms joined in supplication, King Daśaratha, the knower of dharma, will accept the best of the twiceborn, Ṛśyaśṛṅga, as his priest.
