Chapter 12: Preparation for the Aśvamedha Sacrifice
Text 1.12.13

ततः प्रीतोऽभवद्राजा श्रुत्वा तु द्विजभाषितम्।
अमात्यांश्चाब्रवीद्राजा हर्षेणेदं शुभाक्षरम्॥

tataḥ prīto ’bhavad rājā śrutvā tu dvija-bhāṣitam
amātyāṁś
cābravīd rājā harṣeṇedaṁ śubhākṣaram

tataḥ prītaḥ = pleased; abhavat = became; rājā = the king; śrutvā tu = hearing; dvija-bhāṣitam = those words of the twiceborn; amātyān ca = to his ministers; abravīt = spoke; rājā = the king; harṣeṇa = with delight; idam = these words; śubha-akṣaram = filled with auspicious syllables.

Hearing those words of the twiceborn, the king became pleased. With delight, the king spoke these words filled with auspicious syllables to his ministers.

The word rājā (“king”) is mentioned twice to signify two different activities.
