Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 13: Daśaratha Goes to the Sacrificial Arena
Text 1.13.9
औपकार्याः क्रियन्तां च राज्ञां बहुगुणान्विताः।
ब्राह्मणावस्थाश्चैव कर्तव्याः शतशः शुभाः॥
aupakāryāḥ kriyantāṁ ca rājñāṁ bahu-guṇānvitāḥ
brāhmaṇāvasthāś caiva kartavyāḥ śataśaḥ śubhāḥ
aupakāryāḥ = accommodation; kriyantām ca = build; rājñām = for the kings; bahu-guṇa-anvitāḥ = that have many excellent features; brāhmaṇa-avasthāḥ = residences for brāhmaṇas; ca eva = also; kartavyāḥ = should be made; śataśaḥ = by the hundreds; śubhāḥ = auspicious.
For the kings, build accommodation that have many excellent features. Auspicious residences for brāhmaṇas should also be made by the hundreds.
Bahu-guṇānvitāḥ aupakāryāḥ indicates that residential facilities for kings should be constructed and that they should be excellent, that is, they should be tall and wide.
