Chapter 14: The Aśvamedha Sacrifice
Text 1.14.12
ब्राह्मणा भुञ्जते नित्यं नाथवन्तश्च भुञ्जते।
तापसा भुञ्जते चापि श्रमणा भुञ्जते तथा॥
brāhmaṇā bhuñjate nityaṁ nāthavantaś ca bhuñjate
tāpasā bhuñjate cāpi śramaṇā bhuñjate tathā
brāhmaṇāḥ = the brāhmaṇas; bhuñjate = ate; nityam = daily; nāthavantaḥ ca [kṣatriyas, vaiśyas,] śūdras and others; bhuñjate = ate; tāpasā = ascetics; bhuñjate ca api = ate; śramaṇāḥ = and renunciants; bhuñjate tathā= ate.
The brāhmaṇas ate daily. [Kṣatriyas, vaiśyas], śūdras and others, ate. Ascetics ate and renunciants ate.
