Chapter 14: The Aśvamedha Sacrifice
Text 1.14.27
आच्छादितास्ते वासोभिः पुष्पैर्गन्धैश्च पूजिताः।
सप्तर्षयो दीप्तिमन्तो विराजन्ते यथा दिवि॥
ācchāditās te vāsobhiḥ puṣpair gandhaiś ca pūjitāḥ
sapta-rṣayo dīptimanto virājante yathā divi
ācchāditāḥ = covered; te = those pillars; vāsobhiḥ = by cloths; puṣpaiḥ = with flowers; gandhaiḥ = incense; ca = and; pūjitāḥ = worshipped; sapta-rṣayaḥ = the seven sages; dīptimantaḥ virājante = shone; yathā = like; divi = in the heavens.
Covered by cloths, worshipped with flowers and incense, those pillars shone like the seven sages shine in the heavens.
Sage Vālmīki now describes the pillars. The example pertains to the illumination of the pillars.
