Chapter 14: The Aśvamedha Sacrifice
Text 1.14.26

विन्यस्ता विधिवत्सर्वे शिल्पिभिः सुकृता दृढाः।
अष्टाश्रयः सर्व एव श्लक्ष्णरूपसमन्विताः॥

vinyastā vidhivat sarve śilpibhiḥ sukṛtā dṛḍhāḥ
aṣṭāśrayaḥ
sarva eva ślakṣṇa-rūpa-samanvitāḥ

vinyastāḥ = and placed; vidhivat = according to the scriptural directions; sarve = all the pillars; śilpibhiḥ = by the artisans; sukṛtāḥ = were fashioned nicely; dṛḍhāḥ = firmly; aṣṭa-āśrayaḥ = they had eight edges; sarva eva = all of them; ślakṣṇa-rūpa-samanvitāḥ = were shining in color.

All the pillars were fashioned nicely by the artisans and placed firmly. They had eight edges. All of them were shining in color.

The author then describes how the pillars were set. The pillars were fashioned nicely, that is, they were of the proper size. They were firm, that is, free from defects such as hollowness. They were shining as they were oiled.
