Chapter 14: The Aśvamedha Sacrifice
Text 1.14.34
पतत्रिणा तदा सार्धं सुस्थितेन च चेतसा।
अवसद्रजनीमेकां कौसल्या धर्मकाम्यया॥
patatriṇā tadā sārdhaṁ susthitena ca cetasā
avasad rajanīm ekāṁ kausalyā dharma-kāmyayā
patatriṇā = that dead horse; tadā = then; sārdham = near; susthitena ca = with a very peaceful; cetasā = mind; avasat = resided; rajanīm ekām = for that night; kausalyā = Kausalyā; dharma-kāmyayā = desiring the perfection of her religiosity.
Then, desiring the perfection of her religiosity, with a very peaceful mind, Kausalyā resided near that dead horse for that night.
This describes another duty of the chief queen.
