Chapter 15: The Demigods Appeal to the Lord for Protection
Text 1.15.4
ततो देवाः सगन्धर्वाः सिद्धाश्च परमर्षयः।
भागप्रतिग्रहार्थं वै समवेता यथाविधि॥
tato devāḥ sagandharvāḥ siddhāś ca parama-rṣayaḥ
bhāga-pratigrahārthaṁ vai samavetā yathā-vidhi
tataḥ = then; devāḥ = devas; sagandharvāḥ = gandharvas; siddhāḥ = siddhas; ca = and other celestial deities; parama-rṣayaḥ = great sages; bhāga-pratigraha-artham vai = to accept their respective offerings in that sacrificial arena; samavetāḥ = assembled; yathā-vidhi = according to scriptural regulations.
Then devas, gandharvas, siddhas, great sages and other celestial deities assembled according to scriptural regulations to accept their respective offerings in that sacrificial arena.
They arrived according to the prescribed sequence. Ca indicates that Lord Brahmā had also arrived there.
