Chapter 16: Daśaratha Benedicted
Text 1.16.18
समवेक्ष्याब्रवीद्वाक्यमिदं दशरथं नृपम्।
प्राजापत्यं नरं विद्धि मामिहाभ्यागतं नृप॥
samavekṣyābravīd vākyam idaṁ daśarathaṁ nṛpam
prājāpatyaṁ naraṁ viddhi mām ihābhyāgataṁ nṛpa
samavekṣya = looking at; abravīt = he spoke; vākyam = words; idam = these; daśaratham = Daśaratha; nṛpam = king; prājāpatyam = from the Prajāpati; naram = a person; viddhi = know; mām = me to be; iha = here; abhyāgatam = who has arrived here; nṛpa = O king.
Looking at King Daśaratha, he spoke these words: “O king, know me to be a person sent here by the Prajāpati.”
While the king was wondering who this person was and from where he had come, the great being spoke thus.
