Chapter 17: Brahmā Orders the Demigods to Incarnate and Assist Rāma

गोलाङ्गूलीषु चोत्पन्नाः केचित्सम्मतविक्रमाः।
ऋक्षीषु च तथा जाता वानराः किन्नरीषु च॥
golāṅgūlīṣu cotpannāḥ kecit sammata-vikramāḥ
ṛkṣīṣu ca tathā jātā vānarāḥ kinnarīṣu ca
golāṅgūlīṣu ca = from female gopuccha monkeys; utpannāḥ = were born; kecit = some; sammata-vikramāḥ = of famous prowess; ṛkṣīṣu ca = from female bears; tathā = similarly; jātāḥ = some were born; vānarāḥ = of the monkeys; kinnarīṣu ca = and kinnara females.
Some of the monkeys of famous prowess were born from female gopuccha monkeys. Similarly, some were born from female bears, and kinnara females.
The author now describes generation of monkeys from other species.
