Chapter 18: The Advent of Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa, Bharata and Śatrughna

निर्वृत्ते तु क्रतौ तस्मिन्हयमेधे महात्मनः।
प्रतिगृह्य सुरा भागान्प्रतिजग्मुर्यथागतम्॥
nirvṛtte tu kratau tasmin haya-medhe mahātmanaḥ
pratigṛhya surā bhāgān pratijagmur yathāgatam
nirvṛtte tu = when were concluded; kratau = sacrifices; tasmin = the; haya-medhe = Aśvamedha and Putreṣṭi; mahā-ātmanaḥ = from the great soul Daśaratha; pratigṛhya = accepted and; surāḥ = the demigods; bhāgān = their shares of the offerings; pratijagmuḥ = returned to their respective abodes; yathā-āgatam = just as they had come.
When the Aśvamedha and Putreṣṭi sacrifices were concluded, the demigods accepted their shares of the offerings from the great soul Daśaratha and returned to their respective abodes just as they had come.
The causes for the descent of the Supreme Personality of Godhead has been described from Chapter 5 till now. This chapter describes the descent of the Lord.
