Chapter 18: The Advent of Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa, Bharata and Śatrughna

गज-स्कन्धेऽश्वपृष्ठे रथचर्यासु सम्मतः।
धनुर्वेदे च निरतः पितुः शुश्रूषणे रतः॥
gaja-skandhe ’śva-pṛṣṭhe ratha-caryāsu sammataḥ
dhanur-vede ca nirataḥ pituḥ śuśrūṣaṇe rataḥ
gaja-skandhe = even while on an elephant; aśva-pṛṣṭhe = on the back of a horse; ratha-caryāsu = or on chariots; sammataḥ = He was praised by all; dhanur-vede ca = in Dhanurveda; nirataḥ = he was absorbed; pituḥ = his father; śuśrūṣaṇe = in serving; rataḥ = and absorbed.
He was praised by all even while on an elephant, on the back of a horse or on chariots. He was absorbed in Dhanurveda and absorbed in serving His father.
Rāma was unrivalled among His brothers in all of these activities.
