Text 1.21.4

तस्य रोषपरीतस्य विश्वामित्रस्य धीमतः।
चचाल वसुधा कृत्स्ना विवेश च भयं सुरान्॥

tasya roṣa-parītasya viśvāmitrasya dhīmataḥ
cacāla
vasudhā kṛtsnā viveśa ca bhayaṁ surān

tasya = when; roṣa-parītasya = was seized with anger; viśvāmitrasya = Viśvāmitra; dhīmataḥ = the intelligent; cacāla = shook; vasudhā = earth; kṛtsnā = the entire; viveśa ca bhayam = became frightened; surān = the demigods.

The entire earth shook when the intelligent Viśvāmitra was seized with anger. The demigods became frightened.

The demigods were frightened because in the past he had changed the universal order of arrangement out of anger and they wondered what he would do now.1

1 In the past, when Viśvāmitra was angry he had created a duplicate heaven. This will be detailed later on. The demigods remembered that.
