Chapter 22: The Departure of Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa with Viśvāmitra
Text 1.22.19
पितामहसुते ह्येते विद्ये तेजःसमन्विते।
प्रदातुं तव काकुत्स्थ सदृशस्त्वं हि धार्मिक॥
pitāmaha-sute hy ete vidye tejaḥ-samanvite
pradātuṁ tava kākutstha sadṛśas tvaṁ hi dhārmika
pitāmaha-sute hi = were generated by grandfather Brahmā; ete = these two; vidye = sciences; tejaḥ-samanvite = powerful; pradātum = to receive; tava = them; kākutstha = O Kākutstha; sadṛśaḥ = are fit; tvam = You; hi = alone; dhārmika = O most righteous one.
These two powerful sciences were generated by grandfather Brahmā. O Kākutstha, O most righteous one, You alone are fit to receive them.
