Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 22: The Departure of Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa with Viśvāmitra
Text 1.22.9-10

तदा कुशिकपुत्रं तु धनुष्पाणी स्वलङ्कृतौ।
बद्धगोधाङ्गुलित्राणौ खड्गवन्तौ महाद्युती॥

कुमारौ चारुवपुषौ भ्रातरौ रामलक्ष्मणौ।
अनुयातौ श्रिया दीप्त्या शोभयेतामनिन्दितौ।
स्थाणुं देवमिवाचिन्त्यं कुमाराविव पावकी॥

tadā kuśika-putraṁ tu dhanuṣ-pāṇī svalaṅkṛtau
baddha-godhāṅguli-trāṇau
khaḍgavantau mahā-dyutī

kumārau cāru-vapuṣau bhrātarau rāma-lakṣmaṇau
anuyātau
śriyā dīptyā śobhayetām aninditau
sthāṇuṁ
devam ivācintyaṁ kumārāv iva pāvakī

tadā = then; kuśika-putram tu = the son of Kuśika; dhanuḥ-pāṇī = with bows in hand; su-alaṅkṛtau = beautifully decorated; baddha-godhāṅguli-trāṇau = skin protecting Their arms and fingers; khaḍgavantau = holding swords; mahā-dyutī = and greatly effulgent; kumārau = the youthful; cāru-vapuṣau = of charming appearances; bhrātarau = brothers; rāma-lakṣmaṇau = Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa; anuyātau = followed; śriyā = with splendorous; dīptyā = illumination; śobhayetām = they shone; aninditau = and were flawless in every aspect; sthāṇum = Rudra; devam = Lord; iva = who resembled; acintyam = of inconceivable glory; kumārau = the two sons; iva = They resembled; pāvakī = of the firegod.

Then beautifully decorated and greatly effulgent, with bows in hand, skin protecting Their arms and fingers and swords, the youthful brothers of charming appearances Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa followed the son of Kuśika who resembled Lord Rudra of inconceivable glory. They shone with splendorous illumination and were flawless in every aspect. They resembled the two sons of the firegod.

The two sons of the firegod were Skanda and Viśākha as noted in the Mahābhārata.[3]
