Chapter 24: The History of Sarayū
Text 1.24.16
तमुवाच महातेजा विश्वामित्रो महामुनिः।
श्रूयतां वत्स काकुत्स्थ यस्यैतद्दारुणं वनम्॥
tam uvāca mahā-tejā viśvāmitro mahā-muniḥ
śrūyatāṁ vatsa kākutstha yasyaitad dāruṇaṁ vanam
tam = Him; uvāca = told; mahā-tejāḥ = of great prowess; viśvāmitraḥ = Viśvāmitra; mahā-muniḥ = the great sage; śrūyatām = listen; vatsa = dear child; kākutstha = O Kākutstha; yasya etat = about the owner of this; dāruṇam = terrible; vanam = forest.
The great sage of great prowess, Viśvāmitra told Him: O Kākutstha, dear child, listen about the owner of this terrible forest.
