Canto 1 - Boyhood
Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 24: The History of Sarayū
Text 1.24.19

तमिन्द्रं स्नापयन्देवा ऋषयश्च तपोधनाः।
कलशैः स्नापयामासुर्मलं चास्य प्रमोचयन्॥

tam indraṁ snāpayan devā ṛṣayaś ca tapo-dhanāḥ
kalaśaiḥ
snāpayām āsur malaṁ cāsya pramocayan

tam indram = Indra; snāpayan = bathed in holy places such as the Gaṅgā; devāḥ = the devas; ṛṣayaḥ = ṛṣis; ca = and; tapaḥ-dhanāḥ = whose wealth is their austerities; kalaśaiḥ = with water on pots sanctified by mantras; snāpayām āsuḥ = and then again bathed him; malam = contamination; ca = and hunger; asya = his; pramocayan = thus, they removed.

The devas and ṛṣis whose wealth is their austerities bathed Indra in holy places such as the Gaṅgā and then again bathed him with water on pots sanctified by mantras. Thus, they removed his contamination and hunger.

Ca indicates that the devas and ṛṣis removed Indra’s contamination and hunger.
