Chapter 24: The History of Sarayū
Text 1.24.24
एतौ जनपदौ स्फीतौ दीर्घकालमरिन्दम।
मलदाश्च करूशाश्च मुदितौ धनधान्यतः॥
etau janapadau sphītau dīrgha-kālam arindama
maladāś ca karūśāś ca muditau dhana-dhānyataḥ
etau = these two; janapadau = have been prosperous; sphītau = regions; dīrgha-kālam = for a long time; arindama = o destroyer of foes; maladāḥ ca = malada; karūśāḥ ca = and karūśa; muditau = rejoiced; dhana-dhānyataḥ = because of their wealth and grains.
O destroyer of foes, since then these two regions have been prosperous for a long time. Malada and Karūśa rejoiced because of their wealth and grains.
