Chapter 24: The History of Sarayū
Text 1.24.30
स्वबाहुबलमाश्रित्य जहीमां दुष्टचारिणीम्।
मन्नियोगादिमं देशं कुरु निष्कण्टकं पुनः॥
sva-bāhu-balam āśritya jahīmāṁ duṣṭa-cāriṇīm
man-niyogād imaṁ deśaṁ kuru niṣkaṇṭakaṁ punaḥ
sva-bāhu-balam = the strength of Your arms; āśritya = with; jahi = kill; imām = this Tāṭakā; duṣṭa-cāriṇīm = of evil actions; mat-niyogāt = on my order; imam = this; deśam = place; kuru = make; niṣkaṇṭakam = free from disturbances; punaḥ = once again.
With the strength of Your arms, kill this Tāṭakā of evil actions. On my order, make this place once again free from disturbances.
NOTE. In his purport to Bhagavad-gītā 2.32, Śrīla Prabhupāda quotes the Parāśara-smṛti in this regard, stating, “The kṣatriya’s duty is to protect the citizens from all kinds of difficulties, and for that reason he has to apply violence in suitable cases for law and order.”
