Chapter 26: The Killing of the Demoness Tāṭakā
Text 1.26.9
तं शब्दमभिनिध्याय राक्षसी क्रोधमूर्छिता।
श्रुत्वा चाभ्यद्रवद्वेगाद्यतः शब्दो विनिःसृतः॥
taṁ śabdam abhinidhyāya rākṣasī krodha-mūrchitā
śrutvā cābhyadravad vegād yataḥ śabdo viniḥsṛtaḥ
tam = that; śabdam = sound; abhinidhyāya = upon hearing; rākṣasī = the rākṣasī; krodha-mūrchitāḥ = became overcome by further anger; śrutvā ca = hearing that sound; abhyadravat vegāt = she rushed; yataḥ = to that spot from which; śabdaḥ = the sound; viniḥsṛtaḥ = had come.
Upon hearing that sound, the rākṣasī became overcome by further anger. Hearing that sound, she rushed to that spot from which the sound had come.
