गान्धर्वमस्त्रं दयितं मानवं नाम नामतः।
प्रस्वापनप्रशमने दद्मि सौरं च राघव॥
दर्पणं शोषणं चैव सन्तापनविलापने।
मदनं चैव दुर्धर्षं कन्दर्पदयितं तथा॥
gāndharvam astraṁ dayitaṁ mānavaṁ nāma nāmataḥ
prasvāpana-praśamane dadmi sauraṁ ca rāghava
darpaṇaṁ śoṣaṇaṁ caiva santāpana-vilāpane
madanaṁ caiva durdharṣaṁ kandarpa-dayitaṁ tathā
gāndharvam = of the Gandharvas; astram = weapon; dayitam = the favorite; mānavam = Mānava; nāma = named; nāmataḥ = renowned; prasvāpana-praśamane = and the Prasvāpana and Praśamana; dadmi = I will give You; sauram ca = the weapons of Sūrya; rāghava = O Rāghava; darpaṇam = the Darpaṇa; śoṣaṇam ca eva = Śoṣaṇa; santāpana-vilāpane = Santāpana and Vilāpana; madanam ca eva = and the the Madana; durdharṣam = incontrovertible; kandarpa-dayitam tathā = favorite weapon of Kāma.
O Rāghava, I will give You the renowned favorite weapon of the gandharvas named the Prasvāpana and Praśamana, the Mānava, the weapons of Sūrya, the Darpaṇa, Śoṣaṇa, Santāpana and Vilāpana, and the incontrovertible favorite weapon of Kāma, the Madana.
1 In other words, the Vilāpana makes the target depressed.
The Vilāpana causes the victim of the weapon to lament.1 The Madana excites the victim of the weapon sexually.
