Chapter 27: Viśvāmitra Teaches Rāma to Summon Divine Weapons
Text 1.27.21
स्थितस्तु प्राङ्मुखो भूत्वा शुचिर्मुनिवरस्तदा।
ददौ रामाय सुप्रीतो मन्त्रग्राममनुत्तमम्॥
sthitas tu prāṅ-mukho bhūtvā śucir muni-varas tadā
dadau rāmāya suprīto mantra-grāmam anuttamam
sthitaḥ tu = standing; prāṅ-mukhaḥ bhūtvā = with his face towards the east; śuciḥ = and having purified himself; muni-varaḥ = the excellent sage; tadā = then; dadau = gave; rāmāya = Rāma; suprītaḥ = very happily; mantra-grāmam = mantras; anuttamam = all the unrivalled.
Then, the excellent sage standing with his face towards the east and having purified himself, very happily gave Rāma all the unrivalled mantras.
“He very happily gave Rāma all the unrivalled mantras” means that he bestowed the mantras for each of those weapons. That these weapons were born from Kṛśāśva means the presiding deities of these weapons were born from Kṛśāśva.
