तमुवाच हरिः प्रीतः कश्यपं धूतकल्मषम्।
वरं वरय भद्रं ते वरार्होऽसि मतो मम।
किमिच्छसि वरं श्रेष्ठं वरदोऽस्मि महाद्युते॥
tam uvāca hariḥ prītaḥ kaśyapaṁ dhūta-kalmaṣam
varaṁ varaya bhadraṁ te varārho ’si mato mama
kim icchasi varaṁ śreṣṭhaṁ varado ’smi mahā-dyute
tam = him; uvāca = told; hariḥ = Lord Hari; prītaḥ = pleased with; kaśyapam = Kaśyapa; dhūta-kalmaṣam = who was freed from contamination; varam = a boon; varaya = accept from me; bhadram te = auspiciousness unto you; vara-arhaḥ = fit to receive a boon; asi = you are; mataḥ mama = in My opinion; kim = what; icchasi = do you want from Me; varam = boon; śreṣṭham = excellent; varadaḥ asmi = I will award you that boon; mahā-dyute = O great brilliant one.
Pleased with Kaśyapa who was freed from contamination, Lord Hari told him: Auspiciousness unto you. Accept a boon from me. In My opinion, you are fit to receive a boon. What excellent boon do you want from Me? O great brilliant one, I will award you that boon.
